Robyn is committed to amplifying the voices of marginalised groups in urban planning processes in communities facing hardship, particularly after disasters or conflict. Robyn’s research and work has a particular focus on children’s participation, driven by the belief that focusing on children and elevating their voices is critical for developing the radical and innovative action needed to achieve a sustainable, equitable and just planet.
Robyn has an extensive background in leadership positions in local and state government, academia, and private practice, and has worked on a range of advocacy, community livelihoods, disaster risk reduction and reconstruction projects in Asia and the Pacific region, Europe, South America, Africa and the Middle East.
Robyn is a qualified landscape architect and holds master’s degrees in International and Community Development, and Disaster, Design and Development. Robyn has lectured at Monash University, RMIT, and Griffith University in disaster and urban resilience studies and is the co-founder of the online journal on disaster, design and development, ‘The Design Between’.
Robyn has completed a PhD at Monash University in 2022 focusing on mainstreaming the participation of children in urban planning processes for vulnerable settings.
