In 2017, the Master of International Cooperation Sustainable Emergency Architecture, UIC Barcelona, conducted a two-week workshop in Chamanga Ecuador. Chamanga was profoundly impacted by earthquake and subsequent tidal surges in April 2016. Th epurpose of the workshop was to develop urban spaces design proposals to be included in Chamanga’s reconstruction plan. As part of the workshop, a physical intervention was developed to make improvements to a public stairwell that connects the riverfront to the urban core.
